For children with inborn errors of metabolism, the recommendations are as below
- For infants less than 6 months old : no influenza vaccine
- 6 months- 2 year old children: inactivated injection influenza given to child when they are stable from a metabolic point of view
- Children over 2 years of age: Inactivate injection influenza given when the child is stable from a metabolic point of view
- OR the LAIV nasal vaccine to those who have stable non-decompensating IMDs (such as PKU, HCU, Galactosaemia, some lysosomal storage disorders) and normal immunity and no other LAIV contraindications
