At present there are a number of research projects and international collaborations ongoing at the NCIMD. A number of topics are covered by these projects.

Natural History Studies
Natural history studies are a way of collecting information to increase the understanding of a disease and its management. At the NCIMD, we are currently involved with a number of ongoing natural history studies.

- Mucopolysaccharidosis Disorders
- Homocystinuria
Prof. Ina Knerr is listed as a supervisor following the successful joint application to the Wellcome Trust biomedical research charity for a Clinician PhD programme (Wellcome/HRB Irish Clinical Academic Training (ICAT), ‘A National Programme for Clinician Scientists’).
